 Alibris has copies of all (or most) of the Foxfire books, which you might remember as the bible of the back-to-the-land movement of the 1970s - comparable in influence to the Whole Earth Catalogue. Ahhh..as I sit in a glass and stainless cubicle, I can think back on dreams of hog-dressing, building a log cabin, strumming a home made banjo and living off the fruit of the land. OK, I'm not in a cubicle and I never wanted to dress a hog, but the Foxfire volumes are still packed with information about a different way of life.

A History of Us
 
We love buying books from Alibris. Not only is it possible to find rare-ish books, but in keeping with our spirit of re-use (and our stinginess), it's a treasure trove of used volumes. Take look at America Divided: The Civil War of the 1960s by Maurice Isserman, and Michael Kazin. According to the blurb, this history of the 1960's covers the major movements for change, such as the civil rights movement, the rise of the counterculture, the New Left, and the women's movement.
