If, like me, you tend to worry neurotically about the perils of old-age, especially Alzheimer's Disease, the news about new early testing for Alzheimer's will either cheer you or terrify you. Spinal tap testing and PET scans are not yet available to the public, but it would be nice for Baby Boomers if they'd hurry up.

You're not neurotic, the problem is real - especially for those with cases of Alzheimer's in their families. And there needs to be a lot more done to address it. The federal budget for 2011 has allocated twelve (that's 12) times MORE money for cancer research than for Alzheimer's research. With the millions who could be impacted in the next several years, this short-sightedness is the equivalent to our response to Hurricane Katrina. This problem is real! Let's wake up!

And the question is...then what? So, you are diagnosed and know it's coming...what would you do then? It's one of those things where I bet there will be many who just won't want to know. Of course, nothing is definitive. Scary to even consider though.

I can understand why you worry about the perils of old age, I guess it is only normal to feel that way, especially the concern about getting Alzheimer, I also do, but I opt to think that if there is nothing I can do about a situation, then I shouldn't worry about it for too long, instead, I try and enjoy what I still have. :) Just my two cents.
