What a great topic - eyesight! Although I do believe our mind gets better as we age - if we use it! - our vision doesn't. I've been wearing contacts since age 17 and have now graduated - due to Aging Hipsterism - to contacts similar to the lenses you describe.
My vision doc explains that each contact has scores of concentric circles for different distances in the landscape. I have extremely weak eyes but my doctor fixed the lenses so I can actually READ close up, and while driving I can read FARAWAY signs. I've only had them a week so my brain is still adjusting.
Don't tell anyone but sometimes I feel like I'm in the movie Altered States!

I watched my wife struggle with glasses for about 10 years until she finally found peace with contact lenses. She might be a candidate for surgery of the sort you describe.
As for me, I've worn glasses since 1952 (when I was six). The first time I put on the glasses, the world jumped into sharp focus. I'll never forget the experience of looking at the trees and seeing individual leaves! Even now, 55 years later, I love putting on my glasses in the morning and getting the day's first clear view of the world.
The glasses I wear these days are so-called "progressive power," and it took me months to get used to them. But it was worth it.

Not all of us Boomers are hot to go under the knife or laser.
Reading glasses are our latest "must have" fashion accessory. Boomer women collect reading glasses the way they collect shoes. They want a pair for every outfit, every occasion, and even a pair in every room of the house. Even Boomer men keep different styles for various occasions (the office, out to dinner with friends, etc.).
Reading glasses are where health meets fashion.

Hi guys,
Came across this blog and thought it was very interesting and helpful...
Just wondering (from millenial to baby boomer)...how much do you guys worry about arthritis? I work at the Arthritis Foundation and just was wondering...
I always browse health sections in blogs/news sites but very rarely see anything on arthritis...does arthritis not affect you guys or is it just not a concern?
I have tons of information if anyone needs help taking control of their arthritis :)
