Marketing has its place, I know, but I can't help thinking of marketers as a bunch of vultures, only with less social conscience.

I wish to reply to the postings of January 6th, by both Jan and Zenyenta. I am the Neil Doherty that is producing the Baby Boomers Show.
I may very well be a mad man, Though I do not think that I am hyper-entreprenuerial or a vulture.
For almost 20 years now, I anticipated that the point would come that people of this generation would be going through some lifestyle changes that would lead them to have some questions, or need for advice. And, I am not unique in this awareness.
No, I do not think that they are so far out of the mainstream that they need someone to tell them what to do. Many have succeeded very well in life on their own.
The purpose of the show is to offer those that do seek some information the opportunity to meet with providers that can assist them.
Though Jan and Zenyenta may have all the answers for their own lives - There are people in the world that would like the option of speaking directly to providers that may give them assistance in financial matters, health matters, relocation matters, etc. etc.. I am sure that Jan and Zenyenta would grant them this freedom.
Many people are now, or soon will be, making big changes in their lives. They will be retiring They may be selling their homes and relocating. Thus, they may want to learn about options available to them.
As many of us know, there are often unforeseen matters that occur in life. And, often, speaking face-to-face with people that work in certain industries, can give you some insight and knowledge that helps avoid problems.
And, if you are not already aware, I am producing this show with free admission to the visitors. Yes, it will primarily be a commercial show. But, it will be products and services that would be useful to the attendees.

Obviously it has not occurred to those intent on dispensing advice to the elder generation that they might do better to ask for it instead.
It's so true that youth is wasted on the young.

Neil--I respect your earnestness even as I see the Boomer Expo as yet another way to separate us from our diminishing discretionary income. I would be hard-pressed to find any boomer in my circle who would feel incapable of gathering and analyzing information on their own. But who knows---maybe there are some of us who feel really old already.

I don't like car salesmen, either. Throughout my life I have generally observed that advertising tries to create a need rather than answer one.
Peace, Doc
