Sunday, January 14, 2007

Once again, Boomers sit quietly by as Bush begins oil drilling in National Parks, expands logging operations in National Forests and relaxes rules that govern power plant emissions. Couple that with two court appointments that bypass Senate confirmation hearings and a war on less-than-solid justification and it's clear Bush Jr. is capable quietly shaping environmental and national policy with backroom deals and end-run tactics.

Now, he wants us to believe he's some kind of environmental savior by protecting 3 million wetland acres when in January of 2003, he issued new rule changes to the Clean Water Act that could adversely affect 20 million acres of isolated wetlands.

The Clean Air and Clean Water acts were passed in the 70's as the result of many Baby Boomers and their broad-based concern for the environment. It was clear then (and still clear today) that corporations will act in their own self-interest with regard to the environment. Without protective rules and government actions to enforce them, corporate polluters and environmentally insensitive companies continue to profitably pollute with the blessing and assistance of the Bush Administration. In less than three years, Bush has systematically dismantled much of what we worked for, but Baby Boomers seem content to deny their roots by peering out at the world through rose-colord SUV windshields.

I was born at night, George, but not last night.

Update: May 8, 2004. I found this it's certainly not as entertaining as a Letterman top ten, but it's right up there.

Bush IS a Baby Boomer. Maybe that's why he is such a selfish, egotitical jerk, who is willing to screw anybody to get what he wants.

Since gen-xers consistently prove spelling doesn't count, I have to assume that the word "egotitical" in the last comment was unintentional.

However, never wanting to pass up an opportunity to get a new definition into Urban Dictionary, perhaps someone can give us the meaning of "egotitical jerk"

Yep, I'm disabled. My typing is sometimes poor from that fact. Care to take another pot shot now?

Egotitical Jerk... A Self ingratiating Boob (thus "tit") who is a jerk

In Typical Baby Boomer fashion Bush's social security plan ommits any burden for your generation. http://www.whybother.org/bother/all-hail-freedonia/bush-baby-boomers-take-care-of-their-own.html
While passing the burden along to the younger generations.

Clinton + Bush = proof that Baby Boomers suck as world leaders.

Make AIDS not War

Look at it this way, Bush is a Baby Boomer so how could he ever do anything wrong.

OFF TOPPIC:
What the f*ck is up with the Rolling Stones getting Metallica to open for them in San Francisco. Now I've lost all respect.

"In Typical Baby Boomer fashion Bush's social security plan ommits any burden for your generation. While passing the burden along to the younger generations."

Wow--so all the taxes and SS deductions we've been paying for 30 friggin years aren't a burden? Thanks for clearing that up.

"Clinton + Bush = proof that Baby Boomers suck as world leaders."

"Make AIDS not War"

So between glomming Bush and Clinton together as if they have anything in common and your pitiful attempt at what I can only hope is wit, what you lack in compassion you make up for in brainlessness, eh?

"Yep, I'm disabled. My typing is sometimes poor from that fact. Care to take another pot shot now?"

Unless your disability keeps you from proofreading, then the pot-shot stands... and my views about the Gen-x blame game are verified.

I've read hundreds of posts from Gen-xers who consistently blame everyone else for their perceived problems. The Gen-x scapegoat de jour has been Baby Boomers, so I'm not surprised that Xer here lumps Bush and Clinton into a big Baby Boomer bag and blames all his woes on us.

Jan is right - Boomers don't get any credit for what we've done, yet we get all the blame.

The Bush gang has done a great job of scaring Gen-xers into believing Social Security needs to be fixed - and has packaged up a neat little scam (personal savings accounts) to appease them.

The fact of the matter remains - Social Security was meant to ensure all Americans the right to age with dignity. If it becomes a greed-ridden personal retirement account that rises and falls on the stock market, then Gen-x and Gen-y will be the fall guys and it will have nothing to do with long-dead Boomers.

Yeah, Bush is a Boomer - but he's not my Boomer and he doesn't represent me. His latest SS nightmare is designed to appeal to to the fear he has purposefully instilled in Gen-x.

Posted by: Pete on September 4, 2005 9:27 AM

Who's not taking responsibility? " but he's not my Boomer". Sounds like your saying it's some one elseās problem to me. Blaming someone else.

I don't fear Bush. Nor do I agree with him. I marched against the war several times, even though I have a difficult time walking. Both wars in fact. And I'm sooooo lacking in compassion that I have donated a lot of the time through out my life making a point about injustices. So slag off hag!

And wow, nit picking one typo as a way of avoiding the uncomfortable reality that Bush is a Baby Boomer. I don't blame my disability on anyone it's just bum luck.

"Jan is right - Boomers don't get any credit for what we've done, yet we get all the blame."

WAH!!! BIG BABY bummer

Baby Boomers have blamed plenty on the generations before them. In fact that was a major impetuous of the 60's movement. Can't handle the pay back?

To be fair I do have Baby Boomers that I respect, but your posts clearly demonstrates how you all want to take credit for the good and live in denial about the bad. That is one of my main complaints about boomers. If you werenāt all tooting your own horn about how great you all think you are and took some responsibilities for the problems that you cause, Iām sure I would have a lot more respect.

Personally, you lost your best when Frank Zappa died.

I'm no little teeny bopper either. One step from 40, I've seen it, I was there.
You all act like we couldn't have a clue on how it was, but I experienced a fair amount of it too. I was alive during the Vietnam war. I remember seeing it's consequences too. As well as the excesses of self absorbed Boomers.

You will be happy to know that even history books are labeling boomers as "an unusually selfish generation."

I never said Bush and KKKlinton have anything in common, I just expressed that they both suck as world leaders.

"The Bush gang has done a great job of scaring Gen-xers into believing Social Security needs to be fixed - and has packaged up a neat little scam (personal savings accounts) to appease them."

I don't think Bush has convinced anyone on social security. I have no desire to change the SS system. And Gen Xers aren't fooled by the BS. Yes it's amazing that people before and after your sagging generations could think for themselves. I know you all think you invented free thought, but sorry to disturb your illusions, you did not.

"The Gen-x scapegoat de jour has been Baby Boomers"

DUH, why don't we blame our music, like Tipper Gore, another Boomer of distinction, has.

Gee.... And you guys never blamed your parents for any of the problems of the world. Shoes on the other foot now, and it stinks real bad.

"I've read hundreds of posts from Gen-xers who consistently blame everyone else for their perceived problems."

That' exactly what the original post does. Thatās what Pete has done. Now, somehow it's wrong when I point out the denial.

You have only proved how deluded you sagging rulers of denial, really are.

We will all be Grateful when you are Dead.

Historically, the large voting block that is referred to as "baby-boomers" was the first generation to have what we call a young adulthood/teenage years and the stereotypical experiences that accompany this notion. Thus, they never grew up. In their youth, they were vain and pseudo-idealistic. In their old age, they are decadent hoarders and shamelessly selfish. Their reign has been one of blatant hypocrisy and perfecting the fine art of self reinvention over every five to ten year span. Why live a life so contradicting? The boomer generation has a lot of self-hate as a whole. They know that they will never be nearly as great as their parents - G.I. generation (hailed as the Greatest Generation). As always, there are exceptions to every rule. Some boomers are decent down-to-earth people, but unfortunately, they are the minority.
Many of the great accomplishments that the boomers claim, belong to their parent's generation. One example is the moon landing. Sorry boomers, music doesn't count.

Generation selfish Baby Boomers. How could a generation who had such great parents turn into such a freiken ish self absorbed stain on society. I know, the one mistake their parents made was to spoil them. Thanks for the mess you are leaving us gen Xers with Babies. The earlier you exit the better off we will all be.

Gen X'er
