A Baby Boomer friend has recently opened a restaurant in Western New Jersey called the Pittstown Inn. We had a chance last weekend to sample the fare and found it a delicious surprise. The restaurant is kind of off the beaten path past Clinton in a 300 year-old former stagecoach stop. We were expecting the same old "country inn" but were surprised to find an amazingly contemporary menu and "country hip" decor.

Well done, Al! It's worth the drive.

In 1976-77, my friends from high school and I used to watch our favorite band play at the Pittstown Inn. The Inn was a friendly, funky place at the time - a bit worn, but cozy - and it was a blast to take the whole place over with my friends.

Every time the Carragher-Murphy Band played, we'd caravan over from Bethlehem and Easton PA, and dance and party with our peers - a blended mix of cliques from preppies and hippies to jocks. Even the cool English teachers came and danced with us.

I can still hear my favorite song...

We were (most of us) legal at the time, since the drinking age was 18. Sure, we smoked a little weed, but not much else - it was a lot more innocent back then.

I hear it had changed, and I miss its funkiness, but I'm glad to see the place lives on in another incarnation. :)

I played at Pittstown regularly, with the (sp) Caragher Murphy band. I would be interested in knowing who Julie D. is, although I see the posting is 2 years old. We had a great following, and the Pittstown Inn was one of our favorite places to play.
